Tonight we decided to go out to eat after work and daycare. Gabriella was excited to go to the "res-trunk!!" At dinner, when the server walked over, she exclaimed, "Hi Lady!!" After our drinks came (beer, wine, apple juice), Gabriella turned to Stew and said, "How was work Daddy?" (???)

Daddy- "It was good. How was daycare Gabriella?"
Gabriella - "It was good.... I'm happy!"

Hasidic Jews and a Lone Puppet

3/13/09
Age 2 years

Gabriella has a relatively persistant fear of men with beards. Add hats and/or boots and the fear is magnified. The other day we were at the grocery store and two Hasidic Jews came in. She was terrified. "Uppie Mommy! Uppie Mommy!" She said, panicked, as she clung to my leg, partially pulling my pants down.

We talked about the man with the beard and the hat all the way home in the car. "Gabby scared, man in hat."

For her birthday, Gabriella received a gift from her cousins - a puppet. This puppet's name is "Alfredo 'Al' Dente" and he is dressed as a stereotypical Italian chef - hat, mustache, and all. You get the picture. When we arrived home from the store, Al, was the first thing that she asked for. (She's been pretty wary of Al since he arrived in our home.) That night, Gabriella gave Al the ultimate stamp of approval - he was invited to sleep in her crib with her. I later removed him from the crib for fear that she would later wake up and regret this last minute invite. The next morning, he was the first thing that she asked for, "Where's Al Mommy?"

We haven't seen a Hasidic Jew since, but I have a feeling that G is working through her fears.
